Ten things Creativity would say to you as a partner
I am right here.
I am right here. I will never leave you. I know it feels like it sometimes, but I never disappeared. You can find me whenever you need me. I love to surprise you when you least expect it. Most often, it’s when you're not trying too hard.
With that said, why aren't you listening to me? Where did you go? I am such a good time. I know you'd rather hang with me over fear. Hell, bring fear along and we'll make it a party. Just like...call me. It’s cool that you need to take breaks Sometimes, I get it. I'm just saying your whole life would get better if we hung out more.
Trust yourself. Especially when you are doubting yourself. Believe that odd premonition calling you forward.
The trick to trust is understanding you only have to trust one step at a time. Then with every right step you take you are better able to discern which steps are wrong.I don't need much to get turned on. In fact, less is more. The less you give me to work with, the more space imagination has to fill in.
Along those same lines, I love boundaries. LOOOOOOVE THEM. Knowing where my limits are makes my focus razor sharp. Whereas the limitless can be super overwhelming.
Did you know I don't even need you to work? In fact, the more you disappear the better. You (as in the boxed-in ego illusion of who you think you are or should be) are always getting in my way.
I am not just for art. I am for all of life baby!!! Every thing you do is a creative act.
Yes, I have a lot of colleagues, but my best, best, BEST friend is curiosity. We work so well together. To practice curiosity, try saying phrases like:
"I don't know."
and
"maybe. maybe not."
and
"let’s find out.”
9. You’ve probably noticed this already, but I am not that serious. I am a kid at heart. I live on playful street. Next door to ‘laugh at yourself’. If you haven't heard from me it’s probably because you are taking yourself too seriously.
10. I have been trying to tell you this last thing for so long. I am a little nervous because its a little harsh and I love you so, so much. But here goes:
SHUT UP.
